The Aquarium for the Paediatrics of the San Paolo Hospital in Savona

Soon we will transform the paediatrics department into an aquarium, where dolphins, turtles and colourful fish can welcome children and families and be close to the health workers with a smile.

OBJECTIVE ACHIEVED

THANKS to all those who contributed to achieving the goal

The work will be delivered on 16 May 2021.

Aquariums in Paediatrics - Part 2

The artist Silvio Irilli with Dr. Alberto Gaiero Director of the S.C. Pediatrics and Neonatology and Dr. Patrizia Marenco

Ready to hold the decoration of the second part of the Aquarium for Paediatrics project, signed by "Painted Hospitals"?

The first part, concerning the large walls, was realised thanks to the third place prize in the north-west area of the competition organised in 2019 by the UNICREDIT FOUNDATION; the project, drawn up by Dr. Patrizia Marenco and Dr. Alberto Gaiero, Director of the S.C. Pediatrics and Neonatology Department, was supported by theCresc.i Association, which has always been a partner of Pediatrics for its care and training initiatives and supporter of numerous reception projects.

Now we would like to complete the work with a beautiful floor that will become the seabed on which the children will walk and there will be a table in the shape of a sailing ship where the workshops can take place.

It will be the completion of the toy library, a unique work where, for the first time in Italy, Ospedali Dipinti will create a set design under the artistic direction of SILVIO IRILLI.

"Painted Hospitals" is an artistic project created by artist SILVIO IRILLI that is transforming Italian hospital wards, followed by millions of people on social networks and is continuously requested in health care facilities in cities from north to south, including the islands; it is one of the most beautiful Italian projects in the sector, also recognised by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella.

Support us to create a paediatric ward with a special emotional and welcoming path.

Your donation will be the most important signature.

Thank you!!!

PART 2: HOW IT WILL BE COMPLETED

Glossy resined seabed floor

Table in the shape of a sailing ship

6 chairs

Printing of the coat of arms of the city of Savona on the sail

"We all hope that as soon as possible we can return to normality and welcome the children to our ward without the need for protection; the Painted Hospitals project for Savona paediatrics is part of this.

The idea came from an idea of the previous coordinator, Dr Marenco, which was immediately picked up by myself; we then submitted the project to a competition organised by the Unicredit Foundation, and it won a prize which allowed work to begin, with the valuable partnership of the Cresci association. Thus began the renovation of our reception room/games room, which represents the first impact on the ward; a colourful underwater world with a galleon in the centre of the room will be our new reception room for in-patients, for patients accessing our out-patient departments and our day hospital.

For the second phase of the work, for which this fundraiser is starting, we are supported by the efforts of the Croce d'oro of Albissola Marina, to whom we extend our thanks, together with thanks to those who made it possible to start the work.

For the paediatrics department of ASL2 and for the city, I think this is a really important project, which in some ways also means that we can be a little optimistic about the future for us and our patients.

Dr. Alberto Gaiero ( Director of Paediatrics and Neonatology SC ASL2 )

FIRST PART COMPLETED

NOT JUST A DECORATION

Decorating a hospital ward is not just about decorating a room with images. It means bringing a message of welcome, of support to the doctors who have to follow the patient and accompany him for treatment. Above all, it means giving a little relief to patients who have to face a journey that requires courage and dignity. It becomes even more important when the therapy has to be carried out by children, who find themselves in a context that is outside their own world. It is important to recreate their world in a hospital ward, so that they can continue to dream. That's why every work we create has to interact with the children, telling them a story so that their therapy journey becomes a game. For adults, on the other hand, the settings are about making the most of the area, which is so rich in history and can take them into another dimension.
